Gawking and staring out in the woods
A beautiful blackbird sings.
Let the little bird go free, the little bird needs to be free.
With a cardinal craze amidst the birds,
Storms directing her thoughts; capture on their minds
She’s trying to dance with the devil in her way
She’s spreading her wings out tall
little finch fly.
Naïve and small;
So tender and yearning for truth
Don’t be afraid; show them who you are
Current encircling; manipulative hands
Play pretend and stay inside today.
Forget making bluebirds learn to dance
(Don’t take a chance.)
Careful little bird, don’t get hurt
Up in the sky, she flies
The winds so strong, be careful not to fall
Up so high in the blue blue sky
And the sun is out and everything right
Until night.
The lightning cracks and a bolt of thunder and ouch another blunder
Play pretend and stay inside today.
Forget making bluebirds learn to dance
(Don’t take a chance.)
It’s winter it’s snowing out in the woods
Her beautiful wings are torn
Such a wearisome bird, the youth of her gone,
Pushed down, buried, and burned.
little finch fly.
Naïve and small;
So tender and yearning for truth
Don’t be afraid; show them who you are
Current encircling; manipulative hands
Play pretend and stay inside today.
Forget making bluebirds learn to dance
(Don’t take a chance.)
trying time; wearisome
